Description

:iconhetherev:

You feel stronger, the trials of your strange new environment are beginning to wane. You find yourself able to run, leap, jump, and fly father and faster then when you first arrived. Do you explore with your new found mobility? What do you find?

The stars shone bright and cold, casting the land below in eerie silver. Human mythology said a goddess had cast a babe from her breast and spurted milk across the sky, giving rise to the human's name for the galaxy, the Milky Way.

Paski knew it as the Ribbon. Darajistreh the Maker had tied a ribbon around the world and the moons to keep them together. For one of the minor holidays, children were tied together with spangled ribbons and spent the day that way, playing as one, never separated.

Kayahan huffed out a breath. Strange that, for all its strangeness, Hetherev had the same star field. Stranger to think that home was one of those pinpoints of light. He pushed that thought away. Homesickness wasn't going to help.

It was cold out here. He had done his duties as a linkboy, and it was time for a break somewhere warmer. Morran Forest sounded nice. He'd make his goodbyes to the other linkboys in the morning, then head out.

I have learned that I cannot paint mountains even with a picture of one right in front of me, haha. More practice needed. I like Kayahan's leetle feet; they're always fun to draw.

That bit about the goddess comes from Greek mythology. Zeus sired one of his many (many) children on a mortal woman, and wanted this particular kid, Heracles, to grow up strong. One version of the myth says that he convinced Hera to nurse the baby, but when baby Heracles bit down, the understandably distraught Hera threw him away, and her spurting breastmilk formed the smear of stars we call our galaxy. Gotta love Greek mythology. That isn't even one of the weird ones.

Done in watercolors and a teeny bit of acrylic.
Paski are mine.
